The performance series An Antigone (To Antigone) by Wanda Golonka at the Schauspiel Frankfurt was also followed by Philip Bußmann with a video camera. The title NEGATION is a rearrangement of the letters in ANTIGONE, and the work is an 8 x 8 minute distillate of the eight-part performance series. At the same time, NEGATION (An Antigone 8x8) is an independent cinematic artwork, which opens up a new perspective on theater. For the camera, Philip Bußmann deliberately chose the position and focus of the spectator’s eye, in order to give space and expression to the inner drama of experience and perception. The observing gaze wanders through the sensuously loaded spaces of the theater and covers itself with images, memories, and associations.

NEGATION (An Antigone 8 x 8) alternates between documentation, close-up, cutting, copy, and video design. It is an evening of film that turns into an evening of theater.

After the screening the audience will have the opportunity to speak with the video artist, Philip Bußmann.
