That is the case for Shot AG in Dresden, a company currently exploring the possibilities of multimedia technology with the computer specialists at the Römerkastell for the piece it is developing: Schieß nicht auf fremde Röckchen (Don’t shoot at others’ skirts). On Wednesday the choreographer Nora Schott’s team talked about their difficulties of dealing with their partner, which was clumsier than the three dancers had anticipated.
It makes little difference from the viewer’s perspective whether the dancing flowers or the particles of language distorted into a sonic backdrop are canned or generated live. More interesting for the audience is the fundamental question of whether the employment of multimedia technology influences how the dancers—and consequently the viewers—perceive their own bodies.
