  Markus Schwind

Markus Schwind studied music pedagogy, orchestral music, and contemporary chamber music with Malte Burba in Mainz, Guy Touvron at the Conservatoire Supérieur (CNR) de Paris, and modern chamber music with Markus Stockhausen and Peter Eötvös at the Musikhochschule in Köln. He has performed with such renowned ensembles for New Music as Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Modern, and the Asko Ensemble with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Ingo Metzmacher, Sylvain Cambreling, Hans Zender, and Heinz Holliger. He is a regular guest of the ensemble recherche, the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, and Musikfabrik NRW and performs on CD and radio productions for Deutsche Grammophon, ECM, KAIROS, WDR, and SWR. As soloist Markus Schwind has appeared at the Moselfestwochen, at the Berliner Akademie der Künste, and in the Paris churches Sainte Trinité and Saint Sulpice. Together with the Trier-based organist Martin Bambauer, he is working to open up church spaces to New Music and improvised music. Markus Schwind lives in Frankfurt and teaches at the Peter-Cornelius-Konservatorium in Mainz. In 2003 he participated in Voyeur and in 2006 in fremd at the Forum Neues Musiktheater.
