Jörg Behr was born 1972 in Bremen. He studied the violine at the Hochschule für Künste, Bremen. 1997 Diploma in music theater directing at Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Hamburg.
Works as director for different music theater projects. From 1997 to 2004 he worked as assistant director and producer at the Staatsoper Stuttgart.
Selected projects: ZAIDE (Mozart/Berio, Junges Forum Musiktheater, Hamburg, 1997), Hyperion (Bruno Maderna, Theater Freiburg, 2001/02), Arianna (Benedetto Marcello, Theater Freiburg 2002/03), Mezzozauber (scenic arrangement at Staatsoper Stuttgart, 2004). Future projects: Die Geschichte vom Soldaten (Igor Strawinsky, Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach, 2005).
In 2003 he was awarded the Götz-Friedrich-Preis für Die Beste Nachwuchsregie 2001/02 (prize for best emerging director). 2004 he was a fellow at the Akademie Musiktheater Heute of the Deutsche Bank. In 2006 Il cielo sulla terra at Forum Neues Musiktheater.
