  Evan Parker
Saxophonist

Was born in Bristol in 1944. Parker is one of the most important saxophone player at the present time. After his first study on alto saxophone with Jimmy Knott and short studies in biology at the University of Birmingham Parker began his career as musician in the London Spontaneous Music Ensemble, together with John Stevens, Paul Rutherford, Trevor Watts and Derek Bailey, Peter Brötzmann and Alexander von Schlippenbach. He also played with the Globe Unity Orchestra and the London Jazz Composers Orchestra.
Parkers musical development is based on the music of John Coltranes and Albert Aylers as well as on Free Jazz. His search for new sound options brought him to electronic technologies. After playing as duo with Walter Prati and Lawrence Casserley Parker build up the Electro-Acoustic Ensemble in the nineties.
