Stephan Storck began studying music pedagogy after completing his secondary school degree but then switched his major to harmony and counterpoint, composition, and singing. In 1988 he began postgraduate studies in composition with Helmut Lachenmann. He received a stipend for composition from the Studienstiftung Baden-Württemberg and Indiana University in Bloomington. He had solo engagements at the Landestheater Detmold and at the Oper Leipzig. Since 1996 he is a member of the choir of the Staatsoper Stuttgart. In 2006 he sang Jason in Hans Thomalla's fremd at Forum Neues Musiktheater.
