The competition involved a one-hour live patching session followed by one minute presentations by all contestants.
The winner of the 2006 Croissant d’Or
Patching Competition, for the second year in a row, was defending
champion Jan Klug!
The competition is named after a cellophaned croissant presented
last year to one of the Max Tutors by a well-meaning local coffee shop owner.
There are now two croissants affixed to a board on the wall of the FNM with two engraved brass plates honoring Mr. Klug’s 2 wins in a row.
We congratulate Jan Klug in his undefeated string of wins of the annual Croissant d'Or Patching Competition!
“Greetings from Stuttgart, where another
fantastiche Max/MSP/Jitter
workshop week has concluded in a familiar way. I am pleased to
announce that Max hero Jan Klug has successfully defended his title
and is the winner of the Croissant d'Or patching competition for 2006.
The sound fodder for this year’s competition was a 45-second answering machine
message from a mental health institute of questionable merit.
Jan’s patch allowed him to dial the phone number
of the institute, to
listen to the message, at the appropriate moment to quiver in
self-doubt, and finally spectacularly crash.
Congratulations to Jan and all the competitors! Watch this space for
photos of Jan posing with the coveted croissant-mounted plaque. (This
incredible croissant shows no sign of aging.)”
